The Southern Moon Yedda Hawthorn is a tough, evergreen shrub known for its abundant clusters of striking white flowers that cover the shrub just before the new growth of leaves. The leaves are shiny, dark green, and have wavy edges.
With a vigorous, compact, dense, and rounded growth habit, Southern Moon can grow to a mature height of 3-6 feet and a width of 6-8 feet.
It thrives in USDA zones 7-10 and enjoys full to partial sun. It requires relatively little maintenance and prefers well-drained soil that isn't completely dry. It is perfect for foundation plantings, borders, hedges, or containers.
Also known as Rhaphiolepsis umbellata 'RutRhaph1' (PP#207,30), the Southern Moon Yedda Hawthorne.
